— J Wingfield (@JWingfieldUSA) July 27, 2015We all know there are a number of obvious things you can do to show you care - but
what if I told you that there are super simple ways to communicate your love?
Seriously...there is really no need to overthink your love language. Most women just
want to know that you are actually thinking about them.
So how do you actually do this?
I know. This sounds crazy but few things are more tedious than tending to the
dishes. If you are married and have children, and your wife or girlfriend does that
bedtime routine, the thought of that dirty flatware is likely gnawing at her while she’s
getting the little ones washed. Do both yourselves a favor and take 12 minutes to
unload the dishwasher and another 8 to put the dirty ones in and run it. I promise
she will say thank you.
Doing the laundry is one thing, putting it away is another. If you see the basket of
clean clothes sitting there, put the clothes in their respective drawers and eliminate
that aspect of the household clutter.
Yes, dress up in your nicest button down and look the part, but the focus shouldn’t
be on the caliber of attire of the dining. Instead focus your attention on taking care of
every detail that goes into a night out. From arranging for childcare to telling her
exactly what time to be ready, doing all the work in planning will certainly show you
care.
But don’t stop there, go above and beyond, by also getting a sense of her schedule, and then making the appointment for her. When she comes home, have her favorite dinner made. Less thinking and planning = more enjoyment of pretty much any activity.
It will very likely surprise her while breaking up the monotony of bills and junk mail
being, for the most part, the only thing that she receives snail mail.
New York City is the hub for many an industry, making a career in that city a crown jewel of achievement…and this means a job interview in this city can have an added level of intensity. Add to that the fact that New York City is typically on the cutting edge of trends and fashion, and you can find yourself frozen with fear when you approach your closet to get dressed for an interview.
I’ve been there. Don’t get too overwhelmed.
The most important part of a job interview is doing your homework on the organization and the people you are interviewing with before you have the actual interview. Once you are asked to come in for an interview, the company clearly knows your ability and experience based on your resume and phone conversations. Now they want to assess, among other things, how well you will fit in with the current office culture.
And the reality is, we communicate a lot about ourselves through the way we dress. Now I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to fit in or pretend to be someone you’re not, because that will only cause problems in the long run. But do research the people and the office you are interviewing with and plan your wardrobe accordingly.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
The impact technology has had on the dating landscape is hard to ignore. Everything from meeting the love of your life using an app to texting instead of calling, has altered the way we find love, and maintain it once it’s been found. We can debate the pros and cons of this at another time. But there is one thing that has not changed much since the advent of the Internet and that is the fact that meeting the parents does more to elevate your relationship status than changing it on Facebook ever will.
And once the relationship reaches a certain point, leaps of this nature are pretty much unavoidable.
So...here you are...about the meet Mom and Dad for the first time. You’ve run through the questions not to ask, figured out how to tactfully explain the non-descript tattoo on you arm and come up with the perfect way to answer, “So, what it is it again that you do for a living?”
And now...well now you need to figure out what you are going to wear. I’m going to say ixnay on any t-shirts that have profanity, holes or stains. The same goes for your pants. Pick something that says, “I’m a good man for your daughter” not “I’m a college co-ed who had way too much fun at Thirsty Thursday.”
I mean, we are all grown-ups now so we should at least act the part. Right? But at the same time you need to still do you. So I say just keep it simple.
So you have been asked to be a guest on a television segment or maybe even an Internet video. And now you find yourself asking the age old question of, “What do I wear?”
Don’t panic. A few simple guidelines can help put your best self forward.
Let’s start off with what NOT to wear, because there are a few things that can be so distracting on camera that they make what you are saying nearly unintelligible. And that is never a good thing.
Do NOT Wear:
Do Wear:
When in doubt, ask the producer of the segment for specific guidelines on what to wear and bring two or 3 easily changed options along so that you ask for a second opinion in person...and this way, you’ll also have a backup just in case you spill coffee on yourself.
I mean everything in New York City has an additional level of complexity, and the dating scene is no exception. And one of the most stressful aspects of the first date (after you actually find someone to say yes to going out on it) is what to wear.
We’ve got you covered.
Now go! Enjoy!
